IVE Electrifies Lollapalooza Paris, Sets New K-Pop Record
The "MZ generation's 'wannabe' icon," IVE (An Yu-jin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Won-young, Liz, Leeseo), recently brought their electrifying energy to Europe, performing at the massive music festival Lollapalooza Paris on July 20th (local time). Taking the MAIN EAST stage at Hippodrome ParisLongchamp for approximately an hour, IVE made history. Following their appearance at Lollapalooza Chicago last year and Berlin this year, IVE became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Lollapalooza for two consecutive years and in three different cities, marking another significant milestone in the global music market.
Professionalism Under Pressure: An Yu-jin's Stellar Leadership
IVE took the stage in stunning burgundy and black outfits, featuring punk-inspired styling with chains, leather, and metal, which perfectly maximized each member's individuality while maintaining a cohesive look. Known for their "all-center visuals," the six members instantly captivated the audience with their overwhelming aura. They kicked off their performance with the powerful "REBEL HEART." However, during the subsequent "I AM" stage, an audio transmission issue occurred. Despite the technical glitch, the members calmly finished the performance. Demonstrating true professionalism and a commitment to their audience, they then decided to re-perform both "REBEL HEART" and "I AM" from the beginning to deliver a more complete show. During this process, An Yu-jin calmly and proactively led the stage, maintaining the flow of the performance without a hitch. Fueled by the audience's even louder cheers, IVE continued with a parade of hit songs, including "Baddie," "LOVE DIVE," "ATTITUDE," and "Kitsch," electrifying the stage. Their rich live vocals, combined with a live band, made IVE's performance even more dynamic, and their energy and stage presence drew massive cheers from music fans.
Deepening Global Connection Through Music
IVE's "K-Pop Festival Performance" continued seamlessly. Even for B-side tracks like "TKO" and "You Wanna Cry" from their third mini-album "IVE EMPATHY," released in February, the audience sang along to the Korean lyrics, demonstrating IVE's global popularity. They brought the atmosphere to a climax with hits like "Accendio," "ELEVEN," "HEYA," and "After LIKE," which have topped charts both domestically and internationally. They further broke down barriers with local fans through contrasting English songs like "Supernova Love" and "All Night," creating a truly interactive stage. Notably, during the final song, "All Night," they encouraged a sing-along in English, marking a passionate finale to their performance.
Gratitude and Future Endeavors
Through their agency, Starship Entertainment, IVE expressed their joy, stating, "All the time, from preparing for Lollapalooza to communicating with the audience on stage, was truly happy and enjoyable." They extended their sincere gratitude to their global DIVEs (official fan club name) and local audience members who warmly welcomed them, as well as to fans in Korea who watched and supported them. They promised to continue to show even better performances in the future. Meanwhile, IVE is also set to perform at the "2025 Coupang Play Series" on July 30th at Suwon World Cup Stadium, where they will participate in the ceremonial kick-off and a halftime show for the match between Team K League and Newcastle United.
